The Imp-Act Consortium is seeking a Programme Coordinator to work in its Secretariat based at the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) in Brighton, UK. This is an exciting opportunity to become involved in a global programme to increase the effectiveness of microfinance in reducing poverty. The Imp-Act Consortium has launched a three-year programme to scale up social performance management (SPM) in the microfinance industry. This involves building capacity for SPM training and support, enabling the practice of SPM by microfinance institutions (MFIs), documenting good practice and experience, and promoting an enabling environment for SPM. The Consortium is formed of seven organisations engaging with microfinance practitioners, donors and policy-makers globally. We are seeking a Programme Coordinator to work as part of the Secretariat team in supporting and coordinating the Consortium's collaborative work. The post involves three key objectives: Supporting effective coordination of Consortium work, including lateral learning, research, documentation and advocacy, Supporting the Consortium's global learning agenda and engagement with the broader industry, and Leading effective project management for the Secretariat. The post would suit an individual looking to work in a complex global programme which engages with microfinance institutions around the world. The post holder should enjoy working in an environment where motivation, flexibility, creativity, and the ability to manage and prioritise competing demands are valued. You will be part of the Vulnerability and Poverty Reduction team at the IDS, and will have the opportunity to engage with the Institute's stimulating academic environment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated their knowledge, interest and commitment to microfinance either through specialist training such as a Masters degree or through practical experience. Strong organisational abilities are required. Excellent written communication skills are also essential, in particular the ability to summarise and synthesise technical information concerning microfinance. As this post requires the individual to interact with microfinance practitioners around the world, cultural sensitivity and the ability to communicate with individuals from different countries are essential. Salary: Initial appointment will be between £20,852-£23,187, per annum (depending on experience), in the IDS Grade 5 range: £20,852-£24,116. Closing date: 5 June (10.00). Interview date: 19 June.
